Camembert flower with puff pastry, bacon and potatoes

Not only the French have a special relationship with this soft mold cheese. The Camembert is also very popular in Germany. Especially in baked form. In the following recipe, the round soft mold cheese is presented in a particularly beautiful way.

For this you need:

  • 4 camemberts
  • 1 roll of puff pastry, diameter: 35 cm
  • 1 egg for brushing
  • 150 g diced potatoes
  • 5 g chopped parsley
  • 150 g fried bacon strips
  • 3 eggs
  • 350 ml cream
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 red onion

That is how it goes:

1.) First cut out a circle from each of the three Camemberts with a small glass and then cut the remaining cheese rings in half.

2.) Roll out a puff pastry (diameter: approx. 35 cm) and place the Camembert halves in a flower-shaped circle on the dough, as shown in the video.

3.) At the edge, the dough between the cheese halves must be cut approx. 3 cm. Brush the batter that is outside the cheese pieces with beaten egg.

4.) Now fold up the dough on the Camembert so that the cheese is covered with dough on the outside. Press everything in firmly so that no small holes are left.

5.) Cut the potatoes and a camembert into small cubes and put them in a bowl with the fried bacon, the finely chopped parsley, cream, 3 eggs and pepper and salt. Mix everything together and pour the mixture into the center of the flower-shaped “basin” made of batter.

6.) Finally, sprinkle finely chopped red onions in the middle and brush the outside of the dough with beaten egg. Now put the cake in the oven for 30 minutes at 200 ° C fan oven.

This beautiful edible flower is ready! The combination of camembert, fried bacon strips, potatoes and puff pastry is a dream. Clearly a dish to show off.
